After having had enormous success in its first two editions, one of the most important proposals that the Madrid City Council makes through the Madrid Capital de Moda project to support Spanish design returns: the third edition of the Capital Fashion Award .

As in the first two editions, this edition is framed within the Strategic Plan for Subsidies 2020-2022 of the Government Area of ​​Economy, Innovation and Employment. This shows that the main objectives of the Madrid Capital de Moda Award are to boost the business projection of fashion designers, and to enhance the value of specialized training in the sector.

The fashion sector is essential for Madrid’s economy, as it enhances its international position as one of the capitals of international design, thanks to the great professionalism of the main creators in this field, who enhance Madrid’s projection throughout the world. 

The Madrid City Council has the help of the Fashion Committee made up of different experts from the sector that will be in charge of advising the consistory on the implementation of programs such as the Madrid Capital de Moda Award.

With this call, the Madrid City Council wants to give recognition to creative and business development projects presented by designers of recognized prestige and experience.

Fashion designers who have actively participated, in the period between January 2021 and June 2022, in the Madrid Fashion Week or in any event of a similar nature organized in the city of Madrid that the body manager, with the advice of the jury, considers that it has had a significant impact on strengthening the image of Madrid as a fashion capital. The face-to-face or digital presentation of the designer’s work, proposals or collections will be considered active participation.

All those who want to participate in this new edition will have to present a creative as well as a business project, carried out, for the most part, in the municipality of Madrid, and that includes in its content, both the tutoring of a student of the last course, or recent graduate, who works as a fellow but who also contributes to the development and implementation of the project.

Having been the winner of the previous edition is, of course, exclusive, and the new winner will receive €60,000 that must be used to carry out the winning project.

Due to the high importance of Slow Fashion, a movement claimed by the ACME itself (Association of Fashion Creators of Spain), some of the most important criteria that the jury will take into account when assessing the projects that are presented, will be bet on sustainability, value craftsmanship and of course, the internationalization of the proposal.

The objective of Madrid Capital de Moda is to promote projects within the framework of fashion, art, decoration and gastronomy, which are held within the capital, but at the same time it is also responsible for internationalizing the city, supporting initiatives such as this to give Madrid greater visibility worldwide.

In this way, Madrid Capital de Moda shares the most significant proposals from both public and private entities to bring citizens closer to all the news and activities that are developed within the cultural field and that at the same time serve as engines of the economy and employment. from the city.
