Carlota Barrera, winner of the Madrid Fashion Capital 2022 award, opens her first exhibition ‘Conversations on Craft Vol.1’ in Madrid from May 8 to 13.
THE EXHIBITION
The designer Carlota Barrera presents a project of craftsmanship and trade to highlight the entire production process behind a fashion collection.
Among the pieces are objects made in collaboration with Abatte, Javier Sánchez Medina, Steve Mono, Carmen Mª Castañeda, Aldanondoyfdez or Estaños de Pedraza. Spectators will be able to immerse themselves in the universe of the Spanish firm.
After winning the Madrid Capital of Fashion 2022 award from the Madrid City Council, Carlota Barrera opens in Central de Diseño a meeting place for designers, artisans, model makers, pattern makers, tailors and other industry professionals, as well as students who will shape the industry of the future. The aim is to generate a dialogue between generations and promote training and the transfer of knowledge to new generations.
Thus, Central de Diseño is the setting chosen by the Spanish fashion brand to recreate the most intimate corners of its universe and generate an intergenerational conversation that invites us to stop, reflect and appreciate the value of handmade work in contemporary fashion.
The exhibition can be visited from May 8 to 13 at Central de Diseño, Matadero Madrid, Nave 17, Paseo de la Chopera, 14, Sala de columnas (Free entrance).
