‘Soy De La Cuesta’ presenta Regreso a Moyano

 

The Association of Friends of Moyano ‘Soy De La Cuesta’, in collaboration with the Madrid City Council through the Madrid Capital de Moda project, wants to celebrate the “Librero por una día” (Bookseller for a day)  initiative this Friday, November 13.

During this day you can enjoy like never before, the wonderful literary offer of the Cuesta, to celebrate more than ever the 2020 Bookshops Day. This event will be very special, because it will put visitors and customers in contact with different personalities such as writers , communicators and artists, who will act as booksellers in the booths of the famous Cuesta de Moyano.

Its primary objective is to provide help to the booksellers of this emblematic place so that they can face the commercial crisis of this year 2020. The “Librero por un día” (proposal will feature great figures, promoters of culture and the literary sector, who will be serving the public, recommending different works and commenting with them on the latest news in some of the booths of the Cuesta on Friday 13 of 12pm to 1:30 pm and 5pm to 6:30 pm.

From 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.:

  • Rosa Montero – Stand 8 – 12 p.m. National Literature Award 2017. She has published dozens of novels. Highlights: La hija del caníbal (Primavera de Novela Award in 1997 and the Chilean Critics Circle Award 1997), La Loca de la casa (2003), Qué Leer Award 2004 for the best book of the year, Grinzane Cavour Award for the best foreign book published in Italy in 2005, “Roman Primeur” Award from Saint-Emilion, France (2006); Historia del rey transparente (2005), Prize What to Read 2005 to the best book of the year, and Mandarache Prize 2007, among others.   • Javier Sierra – Stand 30 – 12 p.m. Trained in the world of journalism – he was co-founder of the monthly magazine Año Cero in 1990, director of the magazine Más Allá de la Ciencia for seven years, as well as presenter and director of radio and television spaces in Spain, he has given print very popular titles, including La cena secreta (published in 43 countries), La dama azul (published in 20 others), La ruta prohibida, Las puertas templarias, El ángel perdido, El maestro del Prado (which was the most popular Spanish fiction). sold in 2013), The Immortal Pyramid or the 2017 Novel Planet Award, El Fuego Invisible, where he faces the enigmas of artistic creation through an unusual search for the Grail.   • Carlos del Amor – Arts Stand – 12 p.m. Deputy Head of the Culture Area of ​​the Spanish Television Newscast. Within his work, he stands out for transmitting information about the main film festivals in the world, the great artistic exhibitions and interviews with numerous and relevant figures of the cultural order such as Joaquín Sabina, Michael Stipe, Joan Manuel Serrat, Woody Allen, Pedro Almodóvar etc. . In 2013 he published his first book of stories, entitled La vida a veces (Editorial Espasa), a collection of twenty-five texts that emphasize the everyday. He has won the Espasa 2020 Prize for the essay on 35 art paintings Emocionarte. La doble vida de los cuadros.
  • Almudena Sánchez – Stand 11 – 12 p.m. Journalist and Master in Creative Writing. Her first book of short stories La acústica de los iglús (Caballo de Troya, 2016) has reached seven editions. He was a finalist for the Ojo Crítico de RNE  and the Setenil Award. She regularly collaborates in national magazines and media such as Tales Literary, Oculta Lit, Ámbito Cultural or Culturamas, conducting reviews and interviews. In 2013 it was included in Bajo 30, an anthology of new Spanish narrators (Salto de página). In Spain it is represented by the literary agency Casanovas & Lynch.
  • Javier Santamarta – Stand 7 – 12 p.m. Political scientist, journalist, history lover and author of Siempre tuvimos héroes and Siempre estuvieron ellas. He has his own blog in the ABC newspaper, “El espía Mayor”. Expert in Humanitarian Aid, Geopolitics, EU, and Protocol. He has published articles on these topics in various books and specialized magazines.

From 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.:

  • Laura Pérez – Stand 21 – 5 p.m. Illustrator for national and foreign publishers, including The Washington Post, National Geographic, The Wall Street Journal, Vanity Fair, Fnac, El País, Penguin Ramdon House, among others. She has just been awarded the RNE 2020 Critical Eye Award for Comics after the success of Ocultos (2019, Astiberri), her first solo graphic novel. His first graphic novel, after winning the IX Fnac Salamandra Graphic Prize, was Náufragos together with the writer Pablo Monforte, which is also published in France and Italy. On November 9, Monday, his latest book Los Secretos de Las Brujas, with Errata Naturae, goes on sale.

 

  • Escandar Algeet  – Caseta 26 – 17h Poet settled in Madrid. His favorite poets are Óscar Aguado, Mario Benedetti, Ángel González and Luis García Montero. He has published his poetry book Alas de mar y prosa (2009), which is now in its ninth edition with Casimiro Parker publishing house. In 2013 he published Un Invierno sin Sol, which was also very well received by the public and together with Marcus Versus he opened a poetry bar in Malasaña called Aleatorio. In 2015 Escandar published two books at the same time: Y toda esa mierda and Ojalá joder.
  •  María Nieto – Stand 26 – 5 p.m. Actress and playwriter. Her debut book, Siemprevivas (As Casimiro Parker said, 2018) consists of the works El holocausto de las flores and Nora, sin Helmer. They delve into the social reality of women harshly and from a voice that rises to vindicate the role of all in the world. A work whose meaning is completed with the interpretation of María on stage.

 

  • Nando López – Stand 10 – 5 p.m. Novelist, playwright and Doctor Cum Laude in Hispanic Philology. Winner of the 2020 Gran Angle Award with La versión de Eric (SM) and finalist for the 2010 Nadal Award with La edad de la ira. (Booket Planeta). He is also the author of free versions of classic texts such as Desengaños amorosos (premiered at the XLI International Theater Festival of Almagro and candidate for the 2020 Max Award for Best Theatrical Adaptation), as well as adaptations such as Tito Andrónico, by Shakespeare (65th International Festival de Teatro Clásico de Mérida) or those of Yerma (2015), by Lorca (awarded the Helen Hayes Prize 2015 for Best Theater Show), Don Juan Tenorio (2017), by José Zorrilla and La vida es sueño, by Calderón de la Barca, these last three premiered at the Gala Theater in Washington.
  • Fernando Navarro – Music Stand 25  – 5 p.m. Editor of the newspaper El País since 2007 in the International sections, Babelia supplement and Culture. At present he is a music critic in the Onda Cero program ‘Te doy mi palabra’ by Isabel Gemio and in El País, where he also writes his platform ‘Maneras de vivir’ in the pages of the Madrid section. He is the author of  Marta. Música para el recuerdo (66rpm), a story that reflects on the disenchantment of current times through songs by Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, Los Rodríguez or Antonio Vega.

 

  • Guillermo Mora – Arts Stand 14 – 5 p.m. Graduated in Fine Arts from the UCM and from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, he subsequently obtained a Postgraduate scholarship from the La Caixa Foundation. Among his solo exhibitions, the highlights are Horizontal with Miquel Mont, Tabacalera, Madrid (2019); Now, Soon, Then, Tomorrow, SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah, USA (2018); Los fondos remontan, Moisés Pérez de Albéniz Gallery, Madrid (2017) and No A Trio A with Pia Camil, La Casa Encendida, Madrid (2013). His work is part of the Voorlinden Museum (The Caldic Collection), The Netherlands, The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, Miami (USA); Collection “La Caixa”; CA2M and the DKV Collection, among others.
  • Nagore Suárez – Stand 29 – 5 p.m. Journalist, archaeologist and forensic anthropologist. SHe has also trained in other subjects such as creativity and has worked as a copywriter in advertising. Nagore’s popularity grew when, in June 2019, her “El ángel de la guardal” Twitter thread reached more than 1.5 million impressions. In it he tells of Andrés’ disappearance in a rural house and how his friends try to find out what happened. Thanks to its history, it won the Audience Award sponsored by Ámbito Cultural and the El Corte Inglés Award for the best Thriller and Mystery thread. In 2020 he published his first novel, La Música de los hueso (Ediciones B), set in Navarra.

This action will be broadcast in streaming through the social media channels of the Soy de la Cuesta Association, which open a window to everything that will happen during the event from 12 p.m.

This wonderful initiative is part of the #MadridSubelaCuesta action plan and aims to serve as a claim so that, after months of confinement, citizens can return to La Cuesta and contribute to the recovery of its mythical commercial and cultural activity.
