Exhibition | Crafts: The invisible art of fashion

Madrid Fashion Week is a unique event that makes our city the international capital of design and creativity. Madrid City Council reaffirms its strong commitment to the fashion sector, promoting various initiatives through its Madrid Capital de Moda project.

This February, Madrid City Council is once again lending its institutional and financial support to Madrid es Moda, an initiative organised by the Association of Spanish Fashion Designers (ACME) and thanks to its collaboration, presents the exhibition The Invisible Art of Fashion, which can be visited from 12 to 17 February in the centrally located Plaza de Colón.

This is an exhibition proposal whose main objective is to highlight the importance of craftsmanship in general and especially in fashion. With the participation of different craftsmen and craftswomen, The Invisible Art of Fashion will bring the work of these creators and the relevance of trades that enrich our cultural and economic heritage to the public.

The open-air exhibition, which is open to the public, also has the support of Allianz, a brand that has been helping young talents and entrepreneurs in the world of fashion under the slogan Create something great.

The public/private collaboration has been fundamental to be able to develop this exhibition that will be located in the Plaza de Colón and will have 5 showcases that will house the pieces of the participating craftsmen and craftswomen.

This list is made up of the Fernández Prats tailor’s shop, the Aletheia Atelier (specialising in natural dyes), the dressmaker Karinme Graciela Novillo de Lagocha, Federico Antelo (specialist in design, textile art and handmade printing) and the pattern maker Ilaria Franceschini.
