Craftsmanship stars in the new Moisés Nieto collection

La artesanía protagoniza la nueva colección de Moisés Nieto

The designer Moisés Nieto, winner of the Madrid Capital de Moda Award 2020, presents his new Fall – Winter 2022 collection | 2023 in DIMAD once again making a claim for Spanish culture. These garments have been created with the collaboration of different artisans such as Lorena Madrazo, Teresa Mingorance, Marta Moreno, Irene Infantes, María Ascensión Moreno, Pablo Aneiros, Ana Moreno, Sara Sánchez, Macarena Martínez, Inés Prat and Isabel Moreno. All of them are part of La Hacería, the project that was awarded the 2020 MCDM Award, which consists of a search engine for women in crafts that disseminates the work of experts in the field of the oldest techniques.

Majismo and how it was embodied in the work of the great artist Francisco de Goya are the main sources of inspiration for this new collection that reinterprets 18th-century Spanish clothing. Craftsmanship is the fundamental pillar of this collection that shows hand-embroidered garments, knitwear created with mohair, crochet or macramé yarns applied to sustainable fabrics such as tencel.

The Andalusian designer collaborates with the Prado Museum capturing one of Goya’s engravings, incorporates his color palette and recovers yarns from La Real Fábrica de Tapices (the Royal Tapestry Factory)to apply them and enrich the fabrics.

Adapting codes and bringing them closer to today’s society, Moisés Nieto creates a unique image with a reflective approach, which walks through textures, colors and silhouettes, leaving excess analysis in the background. Around the sum of synergies and the promotion of local and proximity commerce, this new proposal seeks to provide the pieces with a marked timeless value.
