This Christmas, go for the value of authenticity

Madrid City Council is firmly committed to the fight against counterfeiting and illegal sales by promoting an anti-counterfeiting campaign called El Valor de lo Auténtico (The Value of Authenticity) which has been active since 2022.

During this period when you do your Christmas shopping, from Madrid Capital de Moda we want to remind you that it is very important that you do not buy or give counterfeit products because as the slogan of this campaign says very well, behind a brand there is much more than what you see, such as different jobs, the creativity of the creators, or the quality of the materials.

The Madrid City Council, through the Department of Economy, Innovation and Finance, has included this campaign in the agreement for Madrid to join the “Network of Authentic Cities” together with the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and has the support of the National Association for the Defence of Trademarks (ANDEMA), demonstrating that unity is fundamental in order to put an end to this scourge.

MANIFESTO AGAINST THE COUNTERFEIT MARKET

During last September’s edition of Madrid Fashion Week, the City Council, which has always given solid support to designer fashion over the years, ratified its commitment to the fight against the counterfeit market by signing the Manifesto against the Counterfeit Market during the inaugural event of Madrid es Moda, ACME’s fashion festival supported by the institutional project of Madrid Capital de Moda.

This manifesto received the support of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and has the support of the Association for the Defence of the Brand (ANDEMA) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM). At the end of the event, various creators and creators of Spanish fashion signed the manifesto to vindicate the authenticity and quality of their work.

Christmas is also the time to support Spanish brands and responsible consumption more than ever.
