Madrid City Council reinforces its firm commitment to Spanish designer fashion by participating in the presentation of the report ‘Spanish Fashion Design in Figures 2022: Radiography of the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España’ (ACME).

During Madrid Fashion Week, as part of the Madrid es Moda programme, the Director General of Commerce, Hospitality and Consumer Affairs of the Madrid City Council, Concha Díaz de Villegas, the President of ACME, Modesto Lomba, and its Executive Director Pepa Bueno, together with the CEO of Modaes, Christian De Angelis, presented this report which shows that the designer fashion produced by ACME members is marketed through 24,000 points of sale.

Throughout the past year 2022, Spanish designer fashion has continued its recovery process, growing by 16.8% in turnover, reaching 967 million euros.

According to its creators, this report aims to be an informative tool that also offers all the data that can help Spanish fashion creators to make their business decisions.

The report ‘El Diseño de Moda Español en Cifras 2022: Radiografía de la Asociación Creadores de Moda de España’ shows that internationalisation and online sales have significantly helped the sector to recover.

Another of the data provided by this report is that 78% of the companies associated with ACME consider that, in order to ensure a prosperous future for this sector, collaboration and alliances between companies is fundamental, as well as the enhancement of Made In Spain.

ABOUT ACME (Asociación Creadores de Moda de España)

The Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) is a national professional association founded in 1998 by Modesto Lomba, Jesús del Pozo, Elio Berhanyer, Antonio Pernas, Angel Schlesser and Roberto Verino. It is currently made up of 89 fashion designers who take part in the main national and international catwalks. Numerous firms from Palomo Spain, Eduardo Navarrete, Roberto Diz or Maison Mesa are part of this association.

The Association works fundamentally to defend the interests of fashion creation in Spain, offering tools to increase its competitiveness.

ACME aims to promote Spanish fashion in its economic and cultural facets, encouraging activities that benefit the fashion design sector in its creative and commercial aspects, both inside and outside Spain.
