Escultura Tímida en el Museo del Traje

The Museo del Traje aims to highlight the importance of Spanish clothing and fashion, which is why it is a fundamental part of the city when it comes to offering the public different proposals on design, jewellery and fashion.

From 25 January, the exhibition ‘Escultura Tímida’  (Shy Sculpture), curated by the jewellery designer Helena Rohner and the curator of the Museo del Traje’s jewellery collection, Concha Herranz, will be on display in the temporary exhibition hall on the first floor of the Museo del Traje.

This exhibition presents a dialogue between traditional and contemporary jewellery, and can be enjoyed until 5 May.

DIALOGUE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY JEWELLERY

Through the museography of Marta Muñoz, the public will be able to observe the keys to modern jewellery, from its traditional roots to its relevance in the field of fashion. The exhibition is made up of 200 pieces, most of which come from the Museo del Traje’s own collection and loans from the Disseny Hub in Barcelona and the Museo de Artes Decorativas in Madrid, along with other designs on loan from private individuals such as Chelo Sastre, Andrés Gallardo and Enric Majoral, among many others.

The curators Concha Herranz, curator of the Museo del Traje’s jewellery collection, and Helena Rohner, jewellery designer, have created a dialogue between historical and contemporary pieces that tell us all about the meaning of jewellery: as an ornament, an amulet, or simply aesthetics.

Escultura Tímida is part of the Madrid Design Festival programme, a unique event that brings together the different disciplines of design and makes Madrid the international capital of design.
