The Royal Botanic Garden is one of the most beautiful points of the Madrid map. Although the true creator of this urban lung was Felipe II, it was not until Carlos III, advised by Count Floridablanca, he decided to transfer it to the then “Old Prado of Atocha”, that the garden opened its doors in its current location.
Symbol, originally, of the patronage of the Crown due to its investments to create the Royal Cabinet of Natural History (which years later would be the famous Prado Museum) and the Astronomical Observatory, the Royal Botanic Garden is a unique place, one of the most representative of Madrid.
