The initiative ‘FIRMAS FIN DE MES’ arrives in the Cuesta de Moyano

 

The Association of Friends of Moyano ‘Soy De La Cuesta’, in collaboration with the Madrid City Council with the support of the Culture, Tourism and Sports Area and also, through the Madrid Capital de Moda project, inaugurates on Sunday February 28, the FIN DE MES SIGNATURES initiative, led by Espido Freire, who will sign copies of Tras los pasos de Jane Austen (In the footsteps of Jane Austen – Ariel, 2021).

The writer will be signing copies of her latest work from 12 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Booth 30 on the Cuesta de Moyano, starting a project that aims to reactivate the commercial and cultural activity of this key location for the life of Madrid. The Soy de la Cuesta Association has prepared a program, which from March to June 2021, will have the presence of different writers and writers who will be signing their works on the last weekend of each month in different booths of La Cuesta de Moyano.

February – Sunday 28:

• Espido Freire – Both 30 – 12 p.m.  Espido Freire made her debut as a storyteller with Ireland, a recipient of the Millepage Award. Shortly afterwards, she published Where is it always October and the work with which she would become the youngest winner of the Planeta Prize: Frozen peaches. Winner of the Ateneo de Sevilla Prize with Soria Moria and the Azorín Prize with Llamadme Alejandra, she is the author of numerous novels, several collections of short stories, youth novels and books of poetry. In the footsteps of Jane Austen (Ariel, 2021) The landscapes and places that marked the life of the writer. This book is an emotional journey through the real and fictional territories of one of the most admired British writers. March – Sunday 28:

• Pío Baroja -Both 6  Editor, writer and photographer, Pío Caro-Baroja is also the son of filmmaker Pío Caro Baroja, great-nephew of writer Pío Baroja, as well as nephew of anthropologist and writer Julio Caro Baroja. Heir to a way of inhabiting the world that does, as he himself emphasizes, very consciously position himself against what is “politically correct” and does not renounce, even for a moment, the right to speak out in defense of freedom, Pío Caro-Baroja is also a regular at the Cuesta de Moyano booths and an Honorary Member of SOY DE LA CUESTA. Presided over by a statue of Pío Baroja, the Cuesta de Moyano has maintained a close intellectual and vital link for decades with this family of creators.

April – Saturday 24:

• Santiago Beruete -Both 29 High school teacher on the island of Ibiza, where he teaches Philosophy, Psychology and Sociology. In 1989 he obtained the Constitution Award for Essay for the Book of Love Chess. Graduated in Social and Cultural Anthropology, starting in 2006, he began to study the subtle connections between the theory of utopia and styles in gardening, and to analyze how gardens have constituted since ancient times a visible metaphor of the good life, a A sensitive representation of happiness and a valuable document of the dreams of social perfection that have been made in every age. He is the author of several books of poetry and short stories, of the novels Black lines on white backgrounds and To not die, and of the essays Libro del ajedrez amoroso, Verdolatría and Jardinosofía.

• Javier Echalecu -Both 5 Writer, translator and civil administrator of the State, having held, among other positions, that of Deputy Director General of the Book and Advisory Vocal in the General Directorate of Cultural Policies and Industries of the Ministry of Culture. He recently finished his first story book, The Bad of a Desert Island. Other stories of his have been collected in the anthologies Segunda Parabola de los Talentos (Gens Editorial, 2011) and Tres Rosas Amarillas 01 (in the homonymous publisher, 2011). From Italian, together with Chiara Giordano, he has translated La Vida Fácil. Syllabary by the poet Alda Merini (Trama Editorial, 2017), Food and Freedom, written by the founder of the Slow Food movement, Carlo Petrini (Dandelion, forthcoming) and The best years of our life (Trama Editorial, forthcoming publication), some memoirs by Ernesto Ferrero on the Einaudi publishing house.
  
  

May – Saturday 29:

• Eva Gallud -Both 10 Degree in English Philology. Among his literary translations are authors such as Edith Wharton, Amy Lowell, Guy de Maupassant, Henri Barbusse or D.H. Lawrence. In Moyano she will sign copies of her latest poetry book La litany of cold (Casimiro Parker already said it. 2021) as well as Raíz de ave (2018) and El taxidermista (2016), in the same editorial.

• Andrés Trapiello -Both 28  Author of an extensive work: including The Ghost Ship, The Perfect Crime Friends (2003), When Don Quijote Dies (2004) or Los confines (2009); Also essays such as The Lives of Miguel de Cervantes (1993) and Las armas y las letras (1994, 2010, 2019). He is the author of the prestigious translation into current Castilian El Quijote, published in 2015. He has received, among others, the Award for Letters from the Community of Madrid (2003) and the Castilla y León Award (2011) for his entire work .

June – Sunday 26:

• Escandar Algeet  -Both 26  Poet settled in Madrid. His favorite poets are Óscar Aguado, Mario Benedetti, Ángel González and Luis García Montero. He has published his poetry book Alas de mar y prosa (2009), which is now in its ninth edition with Casimiro Parker publishing house. In 2013 he published Un Invierno sin Sol, which was also well received by the public and, together with Marcus Versus, opened a poetry bar in Malasaña called Aleatorio. In 2015 Escandar published two books at the same time: And all that shit and Hopefully fuck. Homes (As Casimiro Parker said, 2021) Homes is the place where life huddles and the wall on which dreams are projected; a book-curve that finds its present in the poems that take time as a measure of expression, a shelter from the cold, the words that are sincere in the four-walled padding

• Ernesto Pérez Zúñiga -Both 8 From Granada by family, a philologist from the University of Granada, Zúñiga has been a professor and editor and has been linked to the Cervantes Institute for almost two decades, where he practices his profession in the area of ​​Culture. He has published books of poems such as Ella cena de día (2000), Streets for a moon fish (2002), Notebooks of the dark habit (2007) and Seven roads for Beatriz (2014). Among his novels, we can highlight the trilogy that make up Santo Diablo (2004), We will not sing in the land of strangers (2016) and Frost (2018), in addition to The Monkey Game (2011) and The Master Tartini’s Escape (2013) . He has received various awards such as the Young Art Award of the Community of Madrid in 2002, the Torrente Ballester Award in 2012 or the National Live Culture Award in 2019. Part of his work has been translated into Italian, French, Romanian and German . He writes about literature in different media. In April 2021 he will publish his collection of poems Lance (ed. Casimiro Parker has already said it), of which he will sign copies in Moyano.
