The markets of Madrid are one of the fundamental pieces of the daily life of the city. Its hallmarks are its personal treatment, top quality ingredients and its local products, among many others.

Since the beginning of the health crisis, the Madrid markets have been open by and for you, that is why it is important, now more than ever, to support neighborhood businesses, since in addition, now the markets are no longer just «the place where you are going to do your shopping ”, but have become places to“ go shopping ”and meeting spaces to share good times.

The Mercado de las Águilas celebrates its 40th anniversary, and both the deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, and the delegate for the Economy, Innovation and Employment, wanted to celebrate it by visiting the market.

During this occasion, they wanted to highlight “their ability to modernize in very difficult times, managing to maintain 98% of the occupation of their positions and improving their online sales by more than 100% thanks to digitization”. The market, which has the Madrid Guarantee Seal, “is also at the forefront in citizen services, with four charging points for electric vehicles installed in its car park,” explained the deputy mayor.

Redondo has announced that this municipal market “will have a photovoltaic installation on its roof with 73 megawatts at the end of January, which will allow it to feed about 40% of its needs through self-consumption.”

On its 40th anniversary, the Mercado de las Águilas reminds citizens that all the necessary safety and hygiene measures have been adopted against COVID-19 and that orders can be placed online through the Mercado47 platform.
