Japan: A Story of Love and War

After a summer full of art, Centro Centro, one of the cultural spaces belonging to the Madrid City Council, whose headquarters are in the Palacio de Cibeles, presents a new exhibition entitled: ‘Japan. A story of love and war.’

This is one of the most special occasions that visitors who come to Centro Centro will be able to experience, because for the first time in the history of the city, in Madrid you will be able to see a selection of more than 200 pieces belonging to two of the largest collections. prestigious in the world, a true journey to discover the elegant and refined atmosphere of the Japanese country through 11 sections that collect the atmosphere of the Edo period (1603-1868), present-day Tokyo. You can enjoy it until next January 30, 2022.

From kimonos to war armor, through a series of prints, created by the most representative artists of Japanese culture such as Hiroshige, Utamaro, Hokusai or Kuniyosh, the spectators who pass through Centro Centro to see scenes of daily life, the love in its different versions, the female world with geishas or all facets of war.

The exhibition, which offers a global vision of a complex and fascinating culture, is produced and organized by Evolucionarte in collaboration with CentroCentro, and curated by Pietro Gobbi and Enzo Bartolone, great scholars and collectors of Japanese art.
