URVANITY: The festival that fills Madrid with urban art

URVANTIY is the urban art festival that takes place in different parts of Madrid and goes from February 28 to March 3. There, you can enjoy the work of different artists in some of the busiest spots of the Madrid capital.

URVANITY includes well-known emerging artists such as Juan Miguel Quiñones, Sabek, Isaac Cordial, the Italian Moneyless and the German 1010.

URVANITY was born to explore and imagine new spaces that can accommodate contemporary art betting on new trends while setting its base within the COAM; the Official College of Architects of Madrid.

Alonso Martínez, Augusto Figueroa, Callao, and Fuencarral, are the 4 points where you can enjoy the bold and transgressive work of these creators whose main objective is to spread the new art and make it accessible to everyone.

According to its organizers, URVANITY aims to explore the scenarios in which the New Contemporary Art can be located, or, in other words, to integrate the new artistic proposals within the daily life of the street.

They say that what they were really looking for when creating this urban exhibition was to spread the new artistic creations without intermediaries between the artists and the general public. This way, the works belonging to URVANITY have been located in very busy and iconic places of the Madrid capital.

Juan Miguel Quiñones transports us to childhood with his marble sculpture of 2.5 meters high: Dracula, based on the famous ice cream. The artist from Cadiz, categorized inside the NeoPop art, likes to reflect on everyday objects in an ironic way, and this can be seen in his piece of work installed in the Plaza de Santa Bárbara, in Alonso Martínez.

In the Plaza de Callao, you can find the work of the artist Sabek. A fan of the profusion of curved lines, he is usually inspired by the animal world, which undoubtedly can be seen in his work installed in the famous square: a sculpture of a feline of 3 meters high created with glass and polyester resin.

The reused materials are also part of the work of the Italian MoneyLess, since it has used fishing lines and wool to create his work that has been installed in the corners of Hortaleza and Augusto Figueroa streets.

The exhibition finishes with the German contemporary artist 1010 and his surprising effects of optical illusions thanks to the vinyl placed on the floor of the downtown street of Fuencarral.

This action takes place within the framework of the Madrid Capital de Moda project whose main objective is to promote commercial activation and putting value on the most important commercial areas of our city thanks to the support of the City Council and the footwear company Coolway.
