Madrid: The best place to enjoy Contemporary Art

Madrid: El mejor lugar para disfrutar del arte contemporáneo

Once again contemporary art once again makes Madrid the fashion capital.
As in every year, during the month of February and the first week of March, numerous events related to contemporary art have taken place in the city.

One of the most risky actions has been URVANITY Art, an initiative that has taken art to the street so that the public can enjoy art thanks to the collaboration of the Madrid City Council, through the Madrid Capital de Moda project.

In the Plaza de San Ildefonso, it has been possible to discover the colorful work of Dunja Jankovic, in the Plaza de Callao, the reinterpretation of the volumes of Abel Iglesias, while in the Plaza de Juan Goytisolo (in front of Reina Sofía) Samuel Salcedo placed their particular children’s heads. The artist Laurence Vallières has collaborated presenting her large-scale figures at COAM (Calle Hortaleza, 63)

ARCO has returned celebrating its 39th edition in which it has presented a selection of the work of national and international galleries, confirming itself as a true reference in the world of new talent discovery.

How could it be otherwise, FLECHA has reopened its doors to the public, being located in the Arturo Soria Shopping Mall from February 7 to March 8. Both young artists and reputable creators have shown their works that have covered different disciplines such as painting, architecture or photography.

Madrid Capital de Moda has also wanted to collaborate with Distrito 41, the merchants association of the Salamanca District, in an initiative that seeks to pay tribute to the painter Luis Feito through the dishes of 15 restaurants belonging to this District 41. Art and gastronomy shake hands with this proposal that also wants to highlight the new edition of SAM, the Modern Art Salon.

Also at the beginning of February a new edition of Madrid Design Festival started, which on this occasion has had Turin as a guest city. Located once again in COAM, this festival makes Madrid one of the capitals of international design.
Conferences, exhibitions and many activities have been part of the large program of this event that has had an interesting success.

Once again, Madrid has been the capital of international art.
