This 2020, gastronomy is once again the true protagonist of this Carnival.

The Mercado de los Mostenses will host on Friday 21 and Saturday 22, a party that will prepare us to enjoy the parade that will take place in Madrid Rio on Saturday 22 from 12h to 14h.

It is an activity that highlights the role of markets, not only as a place of encounter and purchase, but also as a space for cultural exchanges that take place through food.

From 20h to 23h30, all those who pass through this central market will be able to enjoy the musical proposals of Mala Fama and Madrid Látigo Familia, as well as a contest of costumes and culinary tastings.

On Sunday 23, we propose a plan that is not only interesting, but also delicious, stop by Matadero (Nave 16.2) from 13 to 14h and enjoy an interesting gastronomic round table that bears the name: “The revolution of Ibero-American kitchens to exam”.

Counting on the participation of Concha Díaz de Villegas, general director of Commerce and Hospitality of the Madrid City Council, the journalist and gastronomy expert, Abraham Rivera, the Peruvian chef Jhosef Arias, the chef of Elkano and Cataria, Pablo Vicari and Miguel Ángel Méndez, president of the Association of Entrepreneurs, Cooks and Ecuadorians in Spain, the event will present the presence of Latin American cuisine in our Madrid.
The gastronomic field of Madrid has been enriched thanks to the culinary exchange of chefs who come from Mexico, Peru, Ecuador or Argentina, who also use the wonderful fresh ingredients of the city markets to create their dishes.

In addition, another year is celebrated a particular procession of the traditional sardine, which will make your mouth water… El Sardinero! This initiative has been organized thanks to the collaboration of the General Directorate of Commerce and Hospitality of the Madrid City Council, together with Mercados de Madrid, ASEMPAS (Pasteleros de Madrid), ACYRE (Cook & Pastry Makers of Madrid) and Chocolates La Colonial.

The best patisseries, restaurants, markets, cafes and hotels in the city are “thrown into the sea” to make their particular version of the traditional Carnival sardine, both salty and sweet. You can check the map of El Cortejo de la Sardina here.

The program of this Carnival 2020, we see that there are other essential appointments in other locations such as, for example, the 3rd sample of Comparsas Madrileñas on Tuesday, February 25 at 8pm at the Eduardo Úrculo cultural center in Tetuán, or the traditional Burial of the Sardine on Wednesday 26 at the Fuente de los Pajaritos (Park of the Casa de Campo)
